About What's Up



		What’s Up! is a full color monthly newsletter, which promotes and highlights arts and cultural events in Addis Ababa. It covers a wide range of subjects from health issues to food and cooking tips. What’s Up! boasts the most comprehensive arts events listing and the most helpful restaurant profiles. CIRCULATION What’s Up! celebrates the highest circulation of any English language publication in Ethiopia with 18,000 newsletters a month. READERSHIP What’s Up! is primarily read by a wide range of English readers, including tourists and the expatriate community in Ethiopia. DISTRIBUTION Currently, What’s Up! is distributed extensively around the city and is found in most major locations, including hotels, prestigious galleries, numerous restaurants and many other popular places. The network is well built to reach our target groups as effectively as possible. WHAT'S UP TEAM What's Up! uses the finest writers, photographers, designers and editors both local and international.
		Selamawit Mariam Syoum (Marketing Director) Selamawit lived for many years in France, and continued her experience in events marketing and managing at the Alliance Ethio-Française in Addis Ababa. She enjoys the excitement of searching for what’s happening around Addis, seeking out events in the arts, cultural, and gallery worlds, and other opportunities for better living in the capital. Joining the What’s Up! team with overall responsibility for producing the newsletter, she likens the experience to giving birth every month.
		Rahel Berhane (Editor in Chief) Rahel has an extensive marketing background from her experience working in the newspaper industry in Kuwait. Putting a lot of energy into each issue of What’s Up!, from the design to the finished product, her greatest pleasure is holding the newsletter in her hands when it comes back from the printers, and then distributing it. Her second greatest pleasure comes from expanding her mailing list with new What’s Up! readers!
		Sylwia Pecio (Designer) Sylwia comes to Cactus from Poland with 7 years of experience as a photographer, graphic designer and an illustrator in several major publishing houses in Poland including Gruner and Jahr and the Warsaw Business Journal. she have been trained to use the most up-to-date image manipulation computer software. she produce stunning and effective works for various clients.
		David Kriba (Editor and Photographer) David is an editor and photographer who spent the last three years in India as a freelancer. He now spends his time editing What's Up! and he's really proud of the fact that he's part of Ethiopia's most widely read English publication.
		Elizabeth H. Wold (Web Designer) Elizabeth has a fine arts background with notable design experience. She is the art director of Wederyelesh Communications which has been commissioned to design and update the whatsupaddis web site. She is proud to be part of the What's Up team and finds the working style and spirit of the team, which combines humor and banter, to be exciting and engaging.
