Panatone

December and January are two of the busiest months of the year in Addis with Western Christmas, Ethiopian Christmas and Western New Year. The best part of this period is the appearance of Panatone everywhere. The supermarkets stock up with a variety of imported Panatone and Pandoro while local bakeries and pastry shops are baking the fresh versions.

Farewell to Shanghai

With the opening of every ten new restaurants, Addis loses a restaurant or two. That is part of the Addis experience. A couple of months ago, Addis Ababa lost the wonderful Shanghai restaurant which closed after serving us delicious Chinese food for over eight years. Thank you…and farewell Shanghai. You will be
The New Kaffa House

Hilton's newly renovated Kaffa House and Lobby Bar are trendy and chic. The transformation is quite amazing. Kaffa House, while maintaining its coziness, looks beautiful with its mustard-colour theme. The setting almost makes the great food taste better!
Suzanne's

A new, absolutely stunning shop has opened in town
celebrating the work of Suzanne, from her delicate scarves and
collages to her salon services. In the Old Airport, you walk into Suzanne's new shop and you realize that everything about it is “Suzanne.” Tasteful, carefully designed and welcoming, Suzanne's also boasts the first crêperie in Ethiopia. What's a crêperie? Go and experience if for yourself!

Weddings

Some call it “festive”, others call it “irritating”, I choose to call it “Addis.” The wedding season is in full swing in January. It feels that the entire city is getting married. The hotels are booked solid, event halls are sold out and, during the weekends, the streets are filled with a plethora of cars blowing their horns in celebration of the greatest day of the couple's life.

Enjoy Yasser’s 5 experiences, foods, restaurants, moments, shops, people, products etc for the month!
