A Walk in Addis

Welcome to April in Addis! The sun is out, there are few clouds, and besides the burning hours around noon, it's a great time to go walking!

There are plenty of interesting streets in the city - from broad roads with monuments and new buildings to narrow streets that lead to even more narrow streets.

We've highlighted a few interesting things you can come across as you wander the streets of Addis Ababa!

Shops galore! Markato, Shiro Meda, Bole Road, Piassa... there's plenty of interesting shopping in this town. Bargaining is expected in most places.

The face of Addis is changing rapidly. There are still a few of the old buildings, like the Railway Station, which are a pleasant sight after all the modern buildings popping up all over town.

Old cars are still a common sight, but donkeys, once seen all over town, are now becoming rarer and rarer on the streets.

Boys cleaning and polishing shoes. The city wouldn't be the same without them!

Taxis - the blue and white colours are a trademark of the city!

Beautiful places of worship! You find them all over and many have interesting things to see inside.
